Baby not pooping for days
Hope this post wil benefit someone.
So, I gave birth to my second girl recently and had started to breast feed her, just like I did to her elder sister. She was pooping very often and regularly. Until 1 day when she was 6 weeks old she went poop-less for the entire day. Then she poop the next day, she did a large 1 time poop. I thought she was going to start pooping once a day now, just like a big baby. The next day she was back to 3-5 poop a day. Then it was poop-less for 4 days. Although the websites said breastfed babies tend to be so and there is nothing to worry about... I did. I remembered my elder girl had such too but I can't remember fully the even only that I told my hubby it's normal. Science explains that the guts are in the process of maturing thus the disruption in those popping episodes. And since breast milk is easy to digest fully there aren't much 'residue' to poop anyway, unlike formula milk. As long as the baby pee normal with at least 8 wet nappies, she is fine. I understand the wet nappies means the colon may be working on the removing of excess fluid and it's attempt to solidify the poop. And since there isn't much residue to poop out thus the accumulation in the tummy of fecal matter. But seeing a distended tummy and frequent smelly fart from an otherwise happy baby makes me hyper anxious. :( On some occasions baby girl will let put a sharp and painful cry. I understand too that those are the unfamiliar movements in the tummy making her uncomfortable and sensitive, which are actually pretty harmless. But since she is still new to being a human and all, she don't quite understand it. But to a mummy, I feel helpless.
Next this how I tried to help her feel better. But since baby can't talk to tell me if they are helpful I will just assume they do. Warm bath- sitting in warm bath relaxes the body. I bath her once in the late morning and once in the evening as we prep her for bed. It helps her to fart better and more even if she don't poop. What is worst then a constipated tummy? One with gas trapped inside and churning!! So let all gas out by means of burp or farts! Breast feed her often whenever she wants. Expect a deal of spitting of milk. Cuz nursing comfort her but her tummy is too small to hold all the milk... Thus she spit. I did some baby massage on my girl, exercise her legs in cycling motions and bringing her knees to her chest a few times a day- this helps to bring on the fart too. Also I pray, I pray a lot for God to help her feel comfortable and poop. Then on day 4, my anxiety got the upper hand, I fed her some formula milk. I figured since formula milk is harder to digest and normally result in more solid poop in babies it should help bulk up the existing stuff in her tummy and speed up the popping accumulation 'theory' I have in mind. So.... 6 hours later she gave her grandma a staining look on her redden face, top with some seemingly uncomfortable wiggling... She did her massive poop! Then another 30mins later another massive poop. She did not cry during her popping and I thought she felt so much more relax and lighter after that. But she still wt the same on the scale. :)
So mummies out there, don't worry abt the lack of motion. It's a process. Above is just my experience that may it may not work for you but worth the reading to know u rn't alone in it. Also if ur baby's skin is fine with disposable diapers put it on for her (but pls change every 4hrs at least)- u nvr know when the massive poop may come cuz it once came visiting and leaked onto me while baby was in a cloth nappy. Btw even though in a disposal diaper, the poop may still leak out if its a lot!! :p

Baby EP had a great fall
My 16 mths old had a great fall. Landed on her chin I think and she bled fresh blood from her mouth. It's terrible and she screamed like crazy. My back was facing her and I didn't see it happen. All I heard was her crying and her dad scooped her up. I took over cuz daddy looked totally lost and she was just screaming non-stop with blood oozing out from her mouth. Baby ep tried to wipe away her blood only to result smearing it all over her hands and face. With all the blood and stuff I managed to calm her and did whatever I thought was right. I thought I was going to panick and cry silly but an inner voice said to be strong cuz baby will mirror my reaction. Instead of holding back tears and having a red nose, I surprised myself by being totally logical and may I say professional?! Gosh... Nursing had trained me well huh? I tried to be all weepy much later after all was resolved but nope can do. Now it had been a good 12 hrs post baby ep's trauma and she seems ok. Although she is still not allowing anyone to touch her swollen gums or even opening her mouth long enough for us to take a good look at it, I am sure God has her covered and is watching over her. Thank God for the strength and courage. Amen.

End of the world IS NOT NEW
the thot of the end of the world is freaking people out...well at least it did. in the year 1999, everyone thot the world will come crashing down when the clock strike 0000 on 01012000 cuz the bank system, the world data and everything involving numbers may be reset to 00 in year. but thru intervention and invention of the human race, the big crash was controlled to a mini anxiety and panic attack. then come the prediction of Jesus coming on XXXX yr on XXXX timing. that came and past too. and now apparently the world will end in 2012 and if the timing recalculated and corrected is true, its going to be somewhere in june to sept. telltale signs of it coming to past are the insurge of solar flares and weird weathers. things are changing for sure but aren't things always changing?
i read the book of Jonah recently and it got caught in my brain. not the part of him being swollowed by the great fish- although i had watched a documentary stating it as possible! which i will explain more later but the temperment of this famous Godly?! person. Jonah's temperment is more human and more relate-able than Abraham or Peter/ Saul- to me. Jonah has a "chou bi qi" if u can understand my chinese hanyu pingying. =) at the end of the book, he was angry for God had save the city where he proclaimed God's wrath. not only he "kick his shoes off and showed his displeasure", he tried the lie on the floor and i rather die method on GOd! gosh!!! nothing was said what happened to him in the end but it showed us that God will still use people that are so imperfect and short fused. so God can still use us too. i am sure God's wrath and implementing punishment on the city was real but His grace is too! He chose someone to highlight it to the sinful city is not to display HIs might but to extend His grace. it was a 2nd chance to the sinful city... for them to remorse, to repent and to pray... liken the story of Lot bargining with God.. perhaps is only the city can find itself 100 or 10 or even 5 persons who will pray on behalf on the city... the destruction may be evaded? the meteriod may be indeed be heading our direction, the sun may be heating up more than its usual being but if they r all created by God, won't u think God by His might and grace and pick up the meteriod and cool down the sun? His ways r not urs, anyway. maybe He will stike an unlikely person with an idea to resolve the impending dangers and save human race! to that sinful city that Jonah was sent to, their idea of the world would be so much smaller than ours now but their had heard of the destruction of sodom and gomorrah and maybe visiting the remains were sort of a tourist attraction for them too. so they were serious abt it, just as how lots of us are serious abt 2012 world destruction prediction too. instead of looking for signs and reading the stars, i think we are missing the point... the point to pray and stand in the gap for our human race and seeking God for His grace and salvation.

Jonah in the great big fish...
the documentary (BBC's i think) stated that in the times of JOnah there was a astrological presentation where the moon was covered for a long long time. if Jonah had been indeed been thrown off the ship (which of cuz the sailors knowing JOnah was with GOd would throw him out of the ship -may had placed him in a life boat/ at least gave him a plank to save himself) he could be struck in the sea in darkness and in the peak of the darkness would be called being IN THE BELLY of THE WHALE. so it is possible after all to be known as being swollowed by the whale. then as the alignment of the moon/ stars cease and as the waves would bring Jonah... he was spit out from the fish. interesting....
new layout
wow, blogspot got new layout! but i dun think i know how to use it and i am getting to lazy to learn it. bad me...bad bad...

MRT
the mrt of sg had been breaking down really regularly these days. boy, am i glad that i don't like to travel on MRT! not only i dislike the face to face sitting arrangement, the undergrd and ht that the MRT travels in and the crowded situation where everyone is so close to each other. my personal space intruded! so ask me what are my thoughts on the current hot topic on SMRT? nothing much... what meant to happened will happen. but instead of axing the CEO why had not the COO come out to talk? was it the job of the operating officer job to ensure the operation of the company goes smoothly? the technical director and perhaps the engineering team? well i suppose the answer will only be out after the panel of experts conclude their meeting then shall the public gets the answer.
meanwhile as a member of public i rather not find fault but rather can we focus on the solution!? if the solution is to shut down the entire system for 1 week then so be it, suck it in fellow humans! travel by bus/ taxi/ car/ bike/ walk anything- lets just get it going! nobody want to be trapped in another train, get to experience how it feel to walk 10m above ground (on tracks) or under the surface road nor do anyone fancy hitting in the head by some flying metal piece dislodge from the track/ train!

Nursing Home/ Day Rehab under ur void deck
likenly any childcare and infant care center under the void deck, the nursing home or day rehab proposed is for the convenience of the residences. i can't empathise with the residents that objected the building of such facilities in their estates or under their void decks. if the objection is just for the sake of objection, pardon me but i think such people need to be whack! if they see no problem with building of childcare and infant care why are they objecting to elderly care? i am saying this not because i am a health care worker but because i am a human with aging parents and also in the process of growing old myself.
aside from the fact that singapore is facing a growing number of elderly (who, mind u, had contributed lots to the building of the nation), singapore is also a nation of limited land! instead of building wider, we have but no choice to build taller. and to squeeze out enough for all? its near impossible, so why not use up the space under the blocks? those old chaps aren't going to be kicking their footballs and staining the walls and making a din nor will they smoke and drink under the block and thus leaving smelly waste/ rubbish. they will be cared by the health workers and the noise will possibly be lesser than the current?
since lots of singapore families are small in nature, who is left to care for the aged when the middle aged go out to work? the maid?!? well... i bet she can't really handle the young toddler + the housework + the old folks (worst still if anyone of the old folk is either ill with cancer or dementia) if singaporean had such uproar against the ex- minster of health suggesting outsourcing the ah gong or ah ma to some nursing homes in muar or johor baru why are they so angry abt housing this ah gong and ah ma nearer home??!?! far away from home also grumble, nearer home also grumble.
i had seen patients in my work area that had to be send to nursing home or community hospital post acute medical care setting because they family doesn't have the ability and the facility to care for the patients at home but do the family members really wish to walk down that path? NO!! those old folks had been a great help previously at home! i heard the family members telling me the fond memories of how ah ma had cared for her 3 grandchildren raising them from birth til primary sch (ah ma still call her youngest grandchild to chill him over the great fat zero he got from his spelling test while in hospital post op!!) and how another family's son in law regreting that he may never be able to taste ah ma's cooking now that she is to be institutionised. most of these families will request for us to seek placement for this old folks in a home/ Com hosp. nearest their home. but sadly, beds availiability for such locations (near housing estates) are not plently, if there is..cost may be an issue. i heard of patient's family members visiting the patient almost daily because they miss the old folk but if the location is far, the mind is willing perhaps the body is weak? having a nursing home or day rehab under ur void deck will not only allow the old folks a place to stay, it will enhance the family bonding among those in singapore.
honestly singapore resident PLs.... wake up ur idea!! too many foreigners- u complaint, low pay- u complaint, build nursing home- u complaint, high tax- u complaint, give u the chance to make things rite- u shrink away. so high and mighty?? need to be served hand and foot?? if this continue... singapore will be left to die literally!! then this land may be good only for building of cermeteries and such... oh... i forgot cermetery no need to build, just leave the land be...for filling up. no building = no noise/ dust... not a bad idea hor?

long haitus
4 nights after almost more than a year of break from a night routine. i think i still got it but gosh i am so burnt! on the 1st night it was just 2 of us to 14 pt and 1 admission (avg ~7pt to 1 staff). sound simple enough compared to my previous ward where it can be easily 26 pt with only 3 staff (avg ~8pt to 1 staff). but the later had me working with more experienced staff. this time round i am super swamped mainly because i am working with a brand new girl and she isn't much help. apart from doing her own stuff, she is rather slow thus even if she wants to help out she can't do much. plus this is her 1st setr of night as a staff! my dear sister had put her in charge rather than junior... only for me to find out that she don't really know what to do as a junior on night! argh... in the end i had to do both jr and ic. then on my last night with a full house (14 pts), i must have a bedside chest tube insertion! aiyo... it must be the season for chest tubes! but grumbling aside, i must praise the young girl for her teachable spirit and her ability to take my 'scolding'... hopefully in months and years to go she will be able to work fast and teach her jr. as for now... I AM SUPER TIRED! time for me to cuddle my baby... =)

the role of a mother
the role of a mother is not easy. its a uphill task with mini rest stations but with no such thing as a downhill ease. perhaps to some theirs come with a motor cable car attached making it all pretty sight and no ugly pain. but mine comes with a good package deal. while i thank God that my baby is not those typical colic cry-baby, i get a fair share of worries and fear.
that day that baby was born. i worry if she had enough to drink and was she getting enough love and attention to feel as secure as she was in the womb. then came the jaudice, as a train nurse i can dish out advise and tell parents to ride it through and eventually baby will be fine. but as a mother myself, i dread that baby had to take infant formula for supplement and to prevent her from dehydrating. i fear the worst, what if baby jaudice level is so high that she needs transfusion or get organ/s damage?! when she finally gotten discharge, i got my restless nights but thanks to the help of my mom i gotten a good deal of rest time in the day. but whenever baby sleeps in my arms (she refuse cot!) i would consistently check if she is still breathing or not. i am still doing it now! the reports of SIDs are too alarming and scaring to ignore!!
i am proud to say that i am breastfeeding baby and she is gaining well. yet everyday i worry why is she having that much poo. and when her poo frequency reduce but quantity increased. i wonder is she ok?! and whenever she fart i fear that my diet had caused too much gas in her tummy causing her discomfort. never had i stop my worrying. =( i wish to be as great a mummy to my baby as other mummies before me. those who had displayed great ability to raise their kids, contribute to work and still can find time to go on dates and lovely trips with their hubbies. gosh... i don't think i can manage! even with my mother in law's help i am struggling with the upkeeping of my relationship with my hubby, fear of returning back to work and making sure i am doing all the right (textbook's golden standard) stuff to my little darling.
i don't know what it means to enjoy the joy of motherhood. was it a statement of sarcasm or perhaps i am missing a point somewhere?!?! hmm... sigh...

down with the leaders?!
the world is going through a major shifting of power and resources. 10 yrs ago, the end times were known to be here and now, 10 yrs on the end times is at hand still. but more than ever the signs and its impending truth knocks on our front doors. believe it or not, it is here and will continue to til the the purpose is completed. i am in no position to comment if the leaders in the middle east ought to be overthrown, if the methods were right for the both sides to act upon the other or if the other nations nosy-poking into the situations did any help at all. but i do know all these seemingly are fulfilling the prophesy written in the Bible.
just as the world can't get any worst with the economy situation, natural distruction struck everywhere sparing no countries as it roams. the shaking of the ground, spewing fire from mountains tops and ashes covering the tracks of man. rivers are drying out, the heaven stop its raining. the earth and its core is awakening. but awakening to what and what will it result to? i have no idea. afterall i am end time prophet.
so what and where will we all be when He comes again? Riding on His white shiny horse, this time He won't be clothed in plain rags and humble human self but in His majestic glory and battle ready self. Will i be worthy to call onto His name or will i like that chap in the Bible that self declare my unworthiness and ask for a burning coal to cleanse my foul smelling evil mouth?!

raining
these days it hardly pours. when it rains, its just fine droplets of water drifting through the air. so fine that sometime i can hardly detect it til it had covered my clothes (hanging outside) with a thin flim of water. it comes as sliently as a thief at night and goes just as quietly too. what is left in evidence of its 'had been' are nothing but those slightly damp clothes and droplets on the bamboo poles.

bored.....
maid? infant care? parents' care? so many options so many possibilities. after months of lazing at home, dust is still piling, rubbish still littered inside drawers and cupboards and everywhere else. i am so tired being home, preg and just being me. haiz... miss work but bet i can't zip around much anyway. damn... am i in depression? nah... apart from the total lost of interest in all stuffs that used to consume me and a change in sleep pattern, i think i am in the relatively sane zone. the only good that might had came out good from these weeks of 'resting' is that hubby has been 'well fed' with home cooked b'fast and dinner (eating enough =/= enjoying it, i think. LOL) and the floor is being 'magic cleaned' almost everyday.
argh... there is still much to complete but i am so so so so... bored by it that i just can't bring myself to do it. but staring at facebook isn't any much more interesting too. argh... what a boring life....

i can only imagine
I Can Only Imagine
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can only imagine, What it will be like
When I walk, By your side
I can only imagine , What my eyes will see
When your face, Is before me
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
[Chorus:]
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
I can only imagine, When that day comes
When I find myself, Standing in the Son
I can only imagine, When all I will do
Is forever, Forever worship You
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
[Chorus x2]
I can only imagine [x2]
I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you
Not preggie but just fat?
Met up with my friends the other day. I really miss those days when we could just hang out daily either in the library or the canteen sipping kopi. But 1 year had long past those 'wonderful' days. We had changed yet remained much the same. Nice... =)
M is going to be a bride soon! I am so happy for her! She had become prettier, the magical power of love? The girls didn't really believe I am into my 7th month! Hahaha... they think I don't look that BIG, which means I still look the same! Hahaha... The joy of being fat to start with? They said I looked like a little more like growing a beer belly rather than getting preg! LOL...
Body massage
After months of not having anyone "mishandling" my muscles and foot. I feel really great to get a body massage today! My inner tighs felt so relief and I suspect my tummy actually shrinked! LOL... Feeling good! =)
K歌 BB =P
Babies are suppose to be able to detect vibrations from sounds in the environment and in the later part of their 5th month, they can hear it well. Brought EP to Kbox with friends yesterday. She must had been rather excited by the outing that she kept me awake the night before but nothing can really match my magical ability to sleep. hahaha... By the time she was tired out from all her jumping and thumping, it was my magical time to sleep! =))
During the lunch, EP was most decent and kept her cool even when faced with no her usual yum yum. Haha...The food was not to my liking so both EP and I had to tahan til we make it to 'round 2' to drink some coke at burger king! =) Then was to Kbox. The trip there was rather exciting, as the rain had seems to fade out. We made a quick escape to the building but that will means we will have to brave a section that is uncovered. While waiting for the traffic lights to turn green to our favour, the rain decided to POUR! Lucky I had got my umbrella out and was in time to shelter hubby and me. But a wave of scream came from the youngsters trapped unsheltered from the downpour. There were a bundle of 4 girls trapped under their (1 small) umbrella! However they move (or don't) they were going to be totally wet! LOL.... They kept standing even after we had moved off! Poor kids! =P
Kbox experience was so new to EP. Given that daddy nor mummy ever shout before and the TV was never loud enough to scare her. When she 1st heard hubby sang into the mic, she was startled and started kicking and boxing me. I believe she can identify daddy's voice cuz she always react to hubby and mine evening - chit chat time with great movements. But to hear her daddy at this great volume must be really new to her. She cooled down after a few songs and finally gotten used to the fact that was going to be normal. Then the cold set in, she was once again moving and fighting with me. It was really interesting for me. Perhaps wisdom kicks in and she decided to curl up and hide deeper into my tummy. She stoppped. And whenever I head out to the toilet she will then resurface and do her little dance. When we finally came out from Kbox, she flopped out from her hidding place (literally! I felt a pop sort of feeling with her coming to the front! LOL) and started to exercise. Must be to stretch her little limbs from all those curling up.
The entire night as if to tell me her exciting advantage, she was restless and kicking me on and off. Even into the early morning! Where did she get all those energy, I wonder?! Finally @ 11am or so, she is finally resting but poor me- no sleep at all. It's going to be fun in months to come when I finally cuddle her in my arms and see her coos and laugh! =))
I believe she can identify daddy's voice cuz she always react to hubby and mine evening - chit chat time with great movements. But to hear her daddy at this great volume must be really new to her. She cooled down after a few songs and finally gotten used to the fact that was going to be normal. Then the cold set in, she was once again moving and fighting with me. It was really interesting for me. Perhaps wisdom kicks in and she decided to curl up and hide deeper into my tummy. She stoppped. And whenever I head out to the toilet she will then resurface and do her little dance. When we finally came out from Kbox, she flopped out from her hidding place (literally! I felt a pop sort of feeling with her coming to the front! LOL) and started to exercise. Must be to stretch her little limbs from all those curling up.
The entire night as if to tell me her exciting advantage, she was restless and kicking me on and off. Even into the early morning! Where did she get all those energy, I wonder?! Finally @ 11am or so, she is finally resting but poor me- no sleep at all. It's going to be fun in months to come when I finally cuddle her in my arms and see her coos and laugh! =))
pelvis pain- not pretty =/
the pain is constant made worst on movement (eg-walking, sit-> stand position). wonder if its the hormones or really the pain, i feel like crying sometime because of it. 4 days and i think i can't really tahan it already. can't imagine if i really go ahead with natural birth!? i might end up killing the nurses/ my hubby during that process! although the internet information tells me that its rather normal for such pain to occur, my worst fear is that baby will be coming out too soon. =( hopeful things will be smooth running all the way til march/ feb. =/
these days i am getting so tired that i can sleep past X hrs of the day. although i never did have problem sleeping extended hours since young, but now its really deep sleep! LOL. hopefully baby don't inherite such terrible trait from me! haha... if not she might well change her name to sleeping beauty! =P who on earth says that 2nd trimester is normally the least tiring?!?! i am not even in my last trimester and i am so tired already! =( plus i am not even working!!! gosh!! this is terrible.
the vaccum guy
recently went to a baby fair and saw a booth that was enticing people with free cooking pot + a free vaccum demo session. all things free aren't literally free- that's my living belief (everything comes with a price, the qn is... who's really paying for it). so i gave it a pass but being the ever thrifty one, my elder sister opt for it. the fact is, i knew abt the brand and the machine. it had been in sg for years! and i think my mom had such an experience with them at the mall once but at that time nobody really bother abt dust mites. (they aren't in the media then- not yet fully debut yet? =P) plus the price was crazy high then.
i agreed to the home demo on the account of a friend. got the free pot and heard the sales talk. pity the guy cuz he was sweating like mad and i didn't even offer him water. he vaccumed the sofa, 'clean' the air and took apart his machine to prove stuff to us. but as gentle as i could be, i can't committe a monthly 80-90 dollars for that. truthfully, to break cost down into X amt per month really don't work on me dear sales rep. with the insurance i have to save X amt/ mth, bills X amt/mth, food X amt/mth, transport X amt/mth, saving (if any left) X amt/mth, etc. regardless of how useful, helpful, healthy all these stuff can contribute to my finite lifespan, they are still stuff we can live without somehow. also the fact is what i think is important may differ from urs but i won't force it on u, so neither should u honey. =)
other reasons that didn't make the sales enticing to me includes:
1- allergy/ asthma as much as they may (and had to some extend proven) be caused by dust mites, the are also multiply factors that contribute to it. such as temp, personal/ family med. hx and environment
2- dust in the air WILL NEVER and CAN NEVER cease 100% so why bother are we trying to fight a losing battle? either we try breathing pure O2 or live in space, we will have to somehow get use to dust and live with it. i rather my kid grow a set of super strong nose hair that filter well than set her in an environment so clean that she can't live in other 'dirtier' ones.
3- finally the truth is... the word clean is subjective. i don't mind a little dirt and mess, in fact when things are too clean- i get a little frighten by it. haha... yes, i am not quite fine up there. =P
Faith
faith is believing despite not seeing. there was once a pastor who tried to explain faith, he describe it as: when we sit on a chair we trust that it will hold out weight and that is fatih of some sort. very abstract but at that time, i didn't really have an issue with having faith in God so i didn't think much of it.
recently i found another way of making faith easy to understand- by my experience. =) being preg. i realise there are days i would wake up feeling normal - not preg. at all. without the ultra super bump some mummies are spotted with, i just feel fine and perhaps a little fatter. sometime i would get a little panicky and wonder if the baby is indeed inside me and growing?! it really take faith to believe in what may not be seen with the nake eyes but still it is indeed there cuz we can sense it and there is always signs of it being present. for my case- an amazing dark line that appear out of nowhere running down the middle of my tummy. =)) how amazing!! =))
there are times when God seems really really real - esp. when He answer a prayer for a particular thing, there are times when we feel Him far and wonder if He really care or even hear our cries. regardless of them all, God is still present and it takes faith to believe He is indeed there for us. =)) On days of my ultrasound, i may get to see little baby's heartbeat and get affirmed of this little life-force in me but on days when i don't get to see that pounding little heart, i believe that the little life substaining organ is still present and pumping. =)
being who and what i am today had allow me to understand God a little deeper but yet His ways are higher and not mine, i don't think i will ever fully understand how He feels for all of us earthlings. =) yet i am glad to devote my life time to know Him more each day and season of my life. =)
